Unusual music on Soundtracks?

I have to admit last night I was watching "The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants 2". It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and there was a moment in the film where I almost fell off the couch. During one scene they played Cesaria Evora. I never expected to hear something from my prized music collection played in a film like that.

I started to think what other movies have music that you would never expect? How about, "Henry Poole Is Here" starring Luke Wilson, who might be a friend of Robert Zimmerman. The film is about "Henry Poole moves in to a house in his old neighborhood, to spend what he believes are his remaining days alone. The discovery of a "miracle" by a nosy neighbor ruptures his solitude and restores his faith in life." light stuff and I did not expect to hear Bob Dylan's "Not Dark Yet"

Finally my mouth hit the floor when I was watching "Cars" with my kids and heard none other than Hank Williams singing "My Heart Would Know" on the soundtrack. Pixar and Hiram King Williams? Is this a sign of the apocalypse?

Have you had any of these moments?

  1. I remember being pleasantly surprised when Tom Waits' "Underground" showed up in an animated movie called Robots. I think that might have been the highlight of the movie.
